WE READ (Working to Educate Readers by Encouraging Active Development) is a non-profit student group that works to promote an appreciation of reading and illustration. Most of their books are given for free to an urban elementary school in Detroit as well to children hospitals. Throughout the year, reading and art workshops are given by the students of WE READ.
THE ADVENTURES OF GROSS JEROME AND THE GOOEY GREEN GOBLINS demonstrates the best of what college students can do as authors and illustrators of children's books. The storyline and colorful drawings are engaging. Gross Jerome, like many youngsters, do not always want to clean up their rooms. And they may find imaginary friends who agree with them. However, even those friends may be too gross for the less than committed "housekeeper." This work is for children five to ten.
