War consumes the lands of the east as rulers strive for power. Blood
betrays blood. In the epicenter of the turmoil, there appears a tower
of amethyst--the Wistrix Donn. The tower's emergence brings a whirlwind
of paranormal activity,
first wondrous, then, terrible. The presence of these threats forces
the return of the outcast Noetic and his estranged lover Ontic. Long
ago, they received
the blessing and the burden of the Mystery & The Miracle. Now, the
absence of their murdered God, Ontic and Noetic wrestle with issues of
faith, truth,
and duty as well as flesh-and-blood enemies with supernatural cunning.
They must come to terms with what is expected of them, as well as
their feelings for each other.
So the stage is set for the ultimate struggle. Heartbreaking choices
lie ahead as armies threaten chaos, and the unthinkable emerges to bar the
path of the divinely appointed Ontic and Noetic.
In this fascinating first novel, DeVries has created a magnificent landscape
of forest and fortress, unearthly and palpable at the same time. Wistrix
Donn is an enthralling tale that skillfully draws readers into an enchanting
society
based on classic themes, then, speeds them on a journey of hope--and
beautiful lies.
Long-time lover of mythology and fantasy fiction, Peter DeVries writes
daily and teaches English courses for high school and college students. He
received his BA from Sterling College and his MA from Fort Hays State University.
He resides in the Midwest and is currently at work on a fantasy novel with
the working title Blood of Gods. When asked about his motivation
to write, DeVries smiled and quoted the words of C.S. Lewis once spoke to J.R.R.
Tolkien: "Tollers, there is too little of what we really like in stories.
I am afraid we shall have to try and write some for ourselves."
