    MANA PUBLISHING PLANS

There are eight major plans for publishing. Each aims at meeting the individual needs of our customers. There is flexibility. If there are some features that a customer just does not feel s/he needs, MarketingNewAuthors.com (MANA) is more than willing to customize a plan to the authorıs needs.

    Plan #1
Normally, the author pays nothing for the publishing of his/her work. The exception would be if the pages are more than 300 and there is color.

    The publishing services included are:

  • typing
  • editing
  • illustrations, if needed
  • layout
  • printing
  • cover design, this involves one-three composite reviews, delivery of final product, and a two-color glossy or four-color glossy, if so desired
  • extensive marketing services, including but not limited to: Internet, conferences, mail announcements
  • distributing services
  • warehousing of books
  • registry with US Registry of Deeds
  • copyright (if not already done)
  • ISBN number

Rationale: Yes, it is important that one gets the book published. However, what good is a published book if very few people know that it exists? Marketing helps people know about the existence of the work. And so, MANA wants to help those authors who have little marketing "savvy" but a lot of writing talent and limited resources to pay for an aggressive marketing, distribution, and warehousing package and the printing of the work, too. Plan 1 is developed for our customers in this position.

Receive 250-500 copies, depending on length of manuscript.

For more information about costs, etc., please contact: info@MarketingNewAuthors.com

    Plan #2
These services include: editing, document layout, cover design, 4-color cover, proofing, printing, ascertaining ISBN number, and registration with US Registry of Deeds, Copyright (if not already done). Then, the author can choose the marketing plan that best meets his/her needs. Upon making his/her choice, then, the initial fee and the monthly fee will be half of what is stated since the author is using the publishing services of MANA.

The author can opt not to use any of MANA's marketing services.

Timeline for book to be published: 6-14 weeks after authorıs approval of final galley proof

Rationale: There are authors who have contacts and various means for advertising their publications. And so, many of the services offered in MANA's premium marketing plan #7 would be too much. MANA wants to fit into the plan of its customers, not have the customers fit with our plan.

Receive 250-500 copies, depending on length of manuscript.

For more information about costs, etc., please contact: info@MarketingNewAuthors.com

    Plan #3
S/he would receive a minimum number of copies (50-75). S/he would still receive the publishing services as indicated in Plans 1 & 2. However, the author would have to opt for MANA plan 4, 5, 6, or 7. If a publishing company adopts this author's work within the year of receiving MANA's marketing support, the author will only have to pay 1/2 of the remaining amount owed.

Timeline for book to be published: 4-6 weeks after author's approval of final galley proof

Rationale: Most authors who consider this plan have a manuscript that they wish to publish quickly so to use in a conference or prepare for major publishing companies to review and, hopefully, adopt. Furthermore, they have little marketing support. This plan provides this author with quality workmanship, flexibility with a company, and aggressive marketing services until his/her work is adopted, if this is the ultimate goal.

    Plan #4
The author pays toward the publishing costs and marketing of his/her work. However, if recommended by the review board that MANA's parent company, Robbie Dean Press, should adopt this work as a Robbie Dean Press publication, then, Robbie Dean Press will pay for all future publishing, marketing, distribution, warehousing services for the life of the work. After the author pays the agreed amount (this must be paid before by the approval of final galley proof), the author never pays another cent. How long is "the life of the work"? No work ever goes out of print with Robbie Dean Press, a company in business since 1991. The work lives forever at Robbie Dean Press (www.RobbieDeanPress.com).

Timeline for book to be published: 6-14 weeks after authorıs approval of final galley proof

Rationale: There are authors who have a first-rate manuscript that deserves to be adopted by a major publishing company. Unfortunately, many companies will not take on the expense of a work that may appeal to a limited audience, i.e. children with autism, Deaf college students, or an anatomy review text. If they do not think there will be a large market, no matter the quality, they will not adopt the book. The expense is too great and does not compensate for all of the expenses these companies have, i.e., large staff, medical benefits, heating, air conditioning, etc, etc.. This is not the case with Robbie Dean Press. It is a small, independent full-service publishing company with the primary aim to publish works that are "Determined To Make A Difference." And so, this option is for our customers who want to be affiliated with a respected publishing company that will provide life-long aggressive marketing and distribution services without the author having long-term financial commitments.

Receive 250-500 copies, depending on length of manuscript.

    Plan #5
These services include: editing, document layout, cover design, 4-color cover, proofing, printing ascertaining ISBN number, and registration with US Registry of Deeds, Copyright (if not already done). The price range is dependent on length of manuscript and color required in the text.

The author has the option to choose the marketing plan that best fits his/her needs. However, this is an option; the author does not have to choose a marketing plan by MANA. If the author does choose a marketing plan by MANA, since the cost of this plan is most expensive, the initial fee of the marketing plan is 1/2 of the stated fee listed. Still, the monthly fee would be fifty dollars ($50 a month).

The key factor for this plan is speed of delivery, total support of the author from the very "scrap of paper," to the finished product, if necessary, and flexibility of service.

Timeline for book to be published: Between 6-8 weeks, depending on when the author submits manuscript and it is approved by reviewer for publication and the signing of the final galley proof by the author.

Rationale: This plan is definitely for the author who needs a quick, professional turn around of his manuscript. Of course, a printing house can provide a very speedy result, but many of the printing houses do not provide detailed consultation and publishing clearing house results and timely delivery. And it is for these kinds of services that the price reflects what the author will receive.

FOR AUTHORS WHO HAVE CONTACTED US, SEEKING OUR PUBLISHING AND MARKETING SERVICES IF YOUR BUDGET IS REAL TIGHT, THESE NEW PLANS MAY BE FOR YOU!

    Publishing Plan #6—Budget Plan A

The author finds his/her own printer and artist for cover design.

MANA prepares the typed manuscript to become "printer-ready." The following services are provided:

    Editing
    Proofreading
    Document layout

    COST: $2150.00

Rationale: Many authors do not have the funds for a full publishing package. Furthermore, most authors do not know of individuals who are capable of setting up the manuscript properly for a printer. Working with a well-intentioned friend, who is not a professional in the printing or publishing field, is not the path to follow. If the disk is not set up properly, most printers will charge the author for any "fix ups." This plan allows for the author to work on his/her timeline, working within his/her financial constraints, being assured that his/her disk will be professionally set up. Then, the author can work with a printer of his/her choice. MANA can make the document "printer-ready," and, then, at the authorıs timeline and financial capabilities, s/he can continue the project.

    TIMELINE: 3-6 weeks

Payment plan: 2/3 at the signing of the contract 1/3 at the final approval of the disk

    Publishing Plan #7—Budget Plan B

The author finds his/her own printer.

MANA prepares the typed manuscript to become "printer-ready." The following services are provided:

    Editing
    Proofreading
    Document layout
    Front and back cover designs

    COST: $2950.00

Rationale: Same as above for Plan #6 with an additional point. There are authors who do not have contacts with professional artists who are capable of setting up a cover design that competes in the publishing industry. This plan offers this additional feature.

    TIMELINE: 4-8 weeks

Payment plan: 2/3 at the signing of the contract 1/3 at the final approval of the disk

SPECIAL NOTE: 10% of the cost of the plan will be donated to aid the tsunami victims of the African east coast via the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

    Publishing Plan #8—Budget Plan C

    Editing
    Proofreading
    Document layout
No template set up; customized set up
Front and back cover design (color or gray scale)
Printing of 50 copies (10-150 pp. document)
Additional copies are 50% off retail price to the author
    50% royalty
    Financial reports and MANA reports
Web page on MANA site for 3 years; renewal cost for web presence after the 3 years for another 3 years-$100

Cost: $1500.00; if cover is already professionally designed and printer-ready‹cost: $900.

    TIMELINE: 4-8 weeks

Payment plan: 1/2 down at the signing of the contract. Remaining 1/2 at the signing off on the final galley proof

    Additional Notes:

    1. All manuscripts must be submitted for a cursory review by the review board of MarketingNewAuthors.com. A hard copy and a copy on disk (Microsoft Word 6.0 or higher) must be submitted. The review will take seven to ten days. If the work is recommended for publication, then, the author will be notified with a letter via Federal Express.

    2. Within one week of receiving notice of acceptance of publication of manuscript, then, the author needs to send a money order, cashierıs check, or use a major credit card to place a downpayment of $1,000.00 to reserve book in MANA's publishing schedule. The remaining amount of the down payment would be expected within the next four (4) weeks. Or the client can send in the full amount for the first payment as listed in the contract. Normally, from the day the downpayment is made to the day the final galley proof is approved the actual publication of the manuscript should take no more than eight months, if the author does not change major aspects of the work upon final submission to MANA.

    3. Upon receiving the financial commitment by the author, then, the owner of MANA will contact the author, discuss at length the manuscript, entertain questions, and make plans for the publication of the work.

    4. 10% of the cost of the plan is designated for a charity of the author's choice. If the author does not designate a charity, then, MANA will donate this amount to one of its choice.
